CONFERENCE REPORT

The Department of Paediatric Trauma & Anaesthesiology, SSPH & PGTI organized a conference on “Recent Advances in Paediatric Anaesthesia (RAPACON)” on 4 February. 2017 at 51h Floor Conference Hall, Super Speciality Paedlatrlc Hospital and Postgraduate Teaching Institute, Sector 30, Noida. Dr. Poonam Motiani, Associate Professor was the Organizing Chairperson and Dr. Zalnab Ahmad, Assistant Professor was the Organizing Secretary. The Conference was held under the aegis of lAPA (Indian Association of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists). It was supported by a grant of Rs. 50,000 from SSPH & PGTI and Rs. 50,000 from ICMR. The Conference offered a packed scientific program and was awarded 8 CME hours by UP Medical Council vide Letter No. 615/17 dated 20/1/17.

The Conference culminated successfully with the attendance of about 150 delegates from all over India. The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. A.K. Bhatt, Director, SSPH & PGTI. Chief Guest for the event was Dr.(Brig) T. Prabhakar, Honourable Vice Chancellor, UPUMS, Saifai, UP. Dr. A. Bhattacharya, a renowned ariaesthesiologist was the keynote speaker for the event and delivered a talk on “Simulation The Future of Anesthesiology”. Renowned faculty from UPUMS (Saifal), AIIMS (Delhi), AIIMS (Rishikesh), Lady Hardinge Medical College (Delhi), Maulana Azad Medical College (Delhi), Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya (Delhi), University College of Medical Sciences (Delhi), Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College (Delhi), Delhi Stale Cancer Institute (Delhi), Sant Parmanand Hospital (Delhi), National Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases (Delhi) as well as SSPH & PGTI, Noida participated as guest speakers and chairpersons.

The scientific sessions on Recent Advances in Paediatric and Neonatal Regional Anaesthesia, Current Perspectives on Paediatric Trauma, Transfusion Triggers in Children and Low Flow Anesthesia in Children were interesting and led to a vibrant discussion on these topics. A panel discussion on Current Controversies in Paediatric Airway Management was also held. Pro-Con Debates were held on controversial topics in Paediatric Anesthesia. Poster Competition and Quiz competition for residents were also held in which the delegates participated enthusiastically.
